On 4 June 2021, the British antitrust watchdog announced that it had started an investigation into whether Facebook had gained an unfair advantage over competitors in providing services for online classified ads and online dating, through how it gathers and uses certain data.[1] The European Commission (EC) has also started its own investigation into Facebook’s use of data.
